The body shop international PLC

Situation Body shop was built not as a profit generating entity but as an organization to make a social change in the world; ethics and social concerns formed the backbone of this company. The case questions it was still true with the body shop and refers to how the company had deviated from its original path of ethics.

Anita Roddick started the Body shop in London in 176 and by 177 it had a number of shops in London. The BSI adopted a very different approach to business and was not like any of the other Cosmetics firms. BSI believed that ads created needs that didn't exist and so none of the BSI products were advertised. It was against using testing products on animals and supported various social groups from PETA to groups supporting the Kurds, Tibetans etc. By 11 it had expanded to the US and had around 40 shops in various metropolitan cities. Both in the US and UK, it faced severe competition but dominated in its niche business of organic or natural products. Financially it had experienced around 50% growth until 10 and then it leveled off. From inception till 11, it was following the "CSP driving the relationship" model. (Fig 1)

BSI realized that the niche of its business would fade if no efforts to strength its brand were taken. Also, in the US market where a number of brands exist it was significant to establish differences in the brand and specific brand awareness. To address this issue, Anita Roddick appeared in an Amex ad talking about her travels in search of exotic ingredients. From 16, BSI started piecemeal advertising to push sales. Roddick also published her autobiography, Body and soul, and also released a documentary series, millennium, and donated a large portion of the proceeds for various social organizations and causes. This created a lot of good press for both Roddick and her company.

Issues The biggest issue in this case is the perceived image of a company and the actual reality that it operated in. BSI was painted as a social responsive corporation and meeting the expectations of all the 4 parts of the CSR model but it reality it was failing in almost all the aspects that it had promised to follow through, the testing against animals, no to ads, organic ingredients etc.

The issues started with a British TV new report on BSI, alleging that BSI had sourced materials from suppliers that had recently performed animal testing. This was against BSI's stand, where it only partners with the suppliers who had not done any animal testing for the past 5 years and would continue so in the future. But the biggest controversy against BSI was due to a report on Business Ethics, by Jon Entine. He exposed BSI in a number of ethical issues Roddick had copied the idea of Body shop from a similar store in Berkeley, most of here recipes were outdated, off-the-shelf formulas that had been abandoned by other manufacturers, only a small % of the products were natural in nature and the rest were all petrochemical products, artificial colors, and lots of preservatives. The article also shattered BSI's philanthropic image by stating that between 186 and 1, body shop contributed far less than the average charitable donations for US companies. And around 47% of its ingredients had been tested on animals. This was followed by share prices dropping, large sale of shares by investors adding fuel to BSI's existing financial problems.

In response to this article, Gordon Roddick sent a letter, refuting most of these allegations, to all Business Ethics subscribers. This reaction instead alleviating the situating caused further trouble for BSI. The subscriber's mailing list used was not authorized by Business Ethics but was obtained from the mailing-list company from a third party.

Stakeholders Anita Roddick, Body shop international and the customers who supported its products due to the ethicality of the operations are the primary stakeholders in this case. The employees, the franchisees, all customers and the suppliers have a lot of stake in this issue. The shares were plummeting and the shareholders have a lot of stake. The competitors like Limited, L'Oreal, and HO etc are keenly observing the situation and they definitely have a lot of stake in what is happening with the body shop. The campaigning groups, which were supported by Body shop, other social organizations have some stake. The media has a lot of stake.

Alternative actions

1. The social auditing process is a good move by BSI. The process can be extended by publishing these audits to the public.

. If the allegations of using large doses of petrochemicals and animal testing by its suppliers are true, then BSI should probably take a step back and decide what it wants to be; another cosmetics firm or a corporate different from the other, a corporate with social and ethical responsibilities. This might curtail its growth in the US market but might establish its name as a CSR company and as a niche player in the market.

. The company can change the unethical practices to their original ethical ones and advertise heavily their efforts to change their practices. This might give them some chance to grow in the US. But this would mean that they change their stance on advertisements and agree that it is a significant part in doing business in the US.

4. The other alternative is, BSI can show increased concern for the social environment and prove to be a socially responsible corporate. This might leads to fewer criticisms.

Final outcome The final outcome recommended is that BSI slow down its ambitious plans to grow. Follow its original goals and be a more socially and ethically responsible corporation than a profit generating entity. This would be the best option for Body shop.

THE SHATTERED MIND

In the "Stolen Party", Liliana Heker tells about how a young girl's heart is

broken. Labeling others, based solely on their social rank, creates complications

similar to the ones nine year old Rosaura experiences. Senora Ines labeled her as

Do my essay on The Shattered Mind CHEAP !

hired help instead of a guest during her daughter's birthday party. Stereotyping

groups of people or individuals based on their economic or social class can have

a negative impact on the values and opinions of young people.

Heker makes clear; Rosaura comes from a working class family. Her mother

works for Senora Ines as a maid. Senora's daughter, Luciana, was the one having the

birthday. Rosaura's mother did not want her to go to this particular party. She stated

that it was for rich people only, not for the daughter of house cleaner. Her mother

worked for these people as was aware of the difference of the working class and the

upper class. She did not want her daughter to get embarrassed or hurt by attending

Luciana's party. Her mother new that all the other children attending the party came

from wealthy families. Heker uses this example to illustrate the potential problems

that can arise by mixing the working class with the wealthy (upper class). Most

parents do not want to see their children's feeling get hurt or have them feel

embarrassed. I can understand why Rosaura's mother wants to persuade her daughter

from attending this Birthday party. However, I do not agree on the negative remarks

page 1

she uses in trying to stop Rosaura from attending. She is stereotyping a particular

group of people based on their social class. This type of tactic (stereotyping) used by

her mother is wrong. Her statements about the wealthy, implies that all wealthy

people regard the poor or working class as less important than they are. This is how

racism gets passed in families, by influencing young people with negative suggestion

such as stereotyping others. Young people need to form their own opinions and decide

which values they will use in their lives.

Senora Ines hurt Rosaura's feelings when she classified her as hired help

instead of one of her daughter's guests. I did some repair work at different

restaurants locations for the owner. This man owned many restaurants and obviously,

he had money. Everyone in his family drove a Mercedes Benz. Many of his

employee's were dishwashers, cooks, and female servers. He expected them to

worship him as if he was some kind supreme god. He believed that with the

money he has, it made him powerful and gave him the right to treat the working

class as if they were his personal servants. This man had no respect for his

dishwashers. He often yelled at them in a harsh voice. He was not as harsh to his

cooks compared to the dishwashers. He assumed that the female servers were after

him because of his money. I often saw him flirt with many of them. It appeared to

me that a few of them were due to his upper class (money). Depending on their rank

of employment with him was a factor contributing to the treatment you would get.

I learned from talking to some of his employee's that they viewed not only him but

everyone belonging to the upper class with a negative viewpoints. This is another

example of problems that arise due to stereotyping others.

page

Opinions about the rich, were quite different between Rosaura and her

mother. Throughout most of Heker's story, Rosaura's mother often would express

her opinion about the rich. Usually, they were quite harsh feelings. My father in law

would often say something negative in the same manner as the mother. This caused

my wife to respond back to his thoughts or comments just as Rosaura did. Often, my

father in law would call my wife a bleeding heart liberal. This was my cue to stay

out of their conversation.

Rosaura kept insisting she was going to Luciana's birthday party despite

what her mother told her. Her mother realized she could not stop her. So she

prepared her dress and hair so that her daughter would have a better chance at mixing

with the rich kids. Especially, since she was the daughter of the house cleaner. This

meant she was from the working class, not the upper class as the other kids are. This

reminds me of the time my father bought me new basketball shoes when I decided

to join. He new I was not very good at playing basketball. However, he figured that

if I had brand new basketball shoes, it might help my self-confidence. He was right.

Even though I was not any good, I had more complements on my shoes than I could

count. This was what Rosaura's mother was trying to accomplish in regards to the

preparation of the dress and her daughter's hair looking it is best.

Rosaura's opinion towards rich people suddenly changed at the end

Senora's gesture with the money, instead of a gift, caused her feeling to hurt.

She could not believe that her mother had been right all along. She had always

defended rich people. She had felt only love for Senora and her family. It over-

page

whelmed her the way Senora wanted to pay her as if she was hired help. In fact,

she wanted to be rich and live in a beautiful palace just like Senora and her

family. This new complication, caused by Senora Ines labeling of Rosaura,

had her reconsidering the statements her mother was always saying.

I can remember when a close friend betrayed me. This caused my opinion of him,

to change. I recalled some other people telling me negative things about him and

I did not believe any of it. However, what he did to me made me stop and think that

Perhaps all those things people were saying about him were true. At first, I was

shocked that he placed a lower value on our friendship than I did. Then, my feelings

were hurt, just like Rosaura's were. The more I thought about it, my feelings shifted

to anger about this. Rosaura might have felt this emotion after having time to think

about it.

Heker's story and my own experiences about the problems that result from

stereotyping others should remind people to think about what they are saying to

others. It could have a lasting impact, especially on young people.

Introduction

International relations between the two world wars fall into two distinct phases, with the division at January 1, the month in which Adolf Hitler came to power in Germany. The statesmen of the world had only limited success in improving international relations. With the treaties signed by European governments in the decade after WWI, the old hostilities and suspicions surfaced again, and authoritarian regimes came to power. The first phase of international relations and treaty signing can be divided roughly into three 11-1, 14-1, and 10-1.

Paragraph 1

Most of the peace treaties, signed right after the war, resulted in instability in many countries allowing for authoritarian regime to take control. The most important is the Treaty of Versailles in which Germany had little choice but to sign it even though they objected strongly. German had to lose many territories in Europe including Alsace-Lorraine to France. Germany also had to pay ͘6600 million and the country's military strength was completely weakened by terms of disarmament. The conditions in Germany allowed for Hitler and his authoritarian regime to come into power. Other treaties include both the Treaty of St. Germain and the Treaty of Trianon which deals with Austria and Hungary respectively left the countries with serious economic problems. Austria had lost most of its industrial wealth to Czechoslovakia and Poland. It was soon facing several economic crises and was constantly having to be helped out by loans from the League of Nations. Hungary's population was reduced from 1 million to 7.5 million, and some of her richest corn land was lost to Romania.

Help with essay on How did the treaties signed by European governments in the decade after WWI affect Europe up to 1933?

An attempt by Lloyd George to reconcile France and Germany at the 1 Genoa Conference failed miserably. Attitudes towards German recovery strained relations between Britain and France. The Genoa Conference of 1 failed miserably the French refused all compromise and insisted on full reparations payments from Germany ; the Americans refused to attend, and the Russians and Germans withdrew and signed a mutual agreement at Rapallo. At Rapallo, the two countries canceled all prewar debts and renounced war claims When the following year, the Germans refused to pay the amount due, French troops occupied the Ruhr, and deadlock quickly developed when the Germans responded with passive resistance.

Paragraph

In the second phase of international relation after the First World War and before 1, there was a general improvement in the international atmosphere partly by changes in the political relationship. After 15, there was increasing reliance on regional agreements rather than the League of Nations to support international security. From the point of view of France, this was made all the more urgent by the Treaty of Rapallo of 1. This 'unholy alliance' between Russia and Germany restored relations between the two states and this caused a treat to the Allies. 15 saw the signing of the Locarno Treaties which guaranteed the frontiers in Western Europe fixed at Versailles; this seemed to remove French suspicions of German intentions. In 16, Germany was allowed to join the League, and in the same year the 'easterners' amongst German diplomatic circle produced the renewal of the Treaty of Rapallo. Germany's ambitions in the east persisted even though the Locarno treaties temporarily guarantee the borders between Germany and France and Belgium by Britain, Italy, France, Belgium and Germany. Then in 18, the Kellog-Briand Pact was signed between 65 nations to renounce war.

Paragraph

Towards the end of 1, the world began to run into economic difficulties which helped to cause a deterioration in international relations. During the World Disarmament Conference (1-1) the German delegates walked out, and the conference broke up in failure. Even though two years prior, the Kellog-Briand Pact was signed, the attitude of renouncing war did not reflect in any progress. All League members had undertaken to reduce armaments when they accepted the Covenant, the basis of the League which was included in the Treaty of Versailles and the other peace treaties. Articles 8 and recognized the need for disarmament and set up military commissions. In fact, Germany was the only state to disarm, as Stresemann regularly pointed out. The French alarmed by the rapid increase in support for the Nazis in Germany, refused either to disarm or to allow Germany equality of armament with them. Hitler, knowing that Britain and Italy sympathized with Germany, withdrew from the conference in October 1.

Conclusion

During 11-1, many treaties were signed that dealt with reparations, borders of countries in Europe, and alliances between countries, however by the end France and Germany's relationship still remained hostile. With the Rapallo Treaty, Russia and Germany created an alliance of their own which restored relations between the two states. The disarmament issue was never dealt with equality because for Germany to disarm meant that France's security would strength. The "Locarno spirit" cultivated in the Kellog-Briand Pact depended on economic prosperity which the St. Germain, the Treaty of Trianon, and the Treaty of Versailles did not create. The spirit proved to be an illusion because only three years later, even though it did not occur in Europe, the Japanese, who signed the pact, attacked Manchuria and this pact felt short. A week later after the end of the World Disarmament Conference, Germany withdrew from the League of Nations.

What is a "good society" anyway? A society free from crime, a society free from poverty, or maybe just a free society. For many people it is hard to say what a good society would be like, anything better than the one we live in will do. While others hold the opinion that we live in the ultimate "good society" and it does not get any better than this. It's impossible to have a good society without good people. Now the question is,

" What makes a person good?"

A proper functioning society would not last unless it has a strong foundation. This foundation being the people living in the society. A good person is often thought of as a moral person. But what is a moral person? A moral person is someone who always does what is right, even when they know what pleasure might come from not doing the right thing. They do what is right not because they have to, but because they ought to. A question often asked in our society today is, why should one be moral? That very question is exactly what's wrong with our current society. Our society today is what some call Egoism. Egoism is, " the thesis that everyone always acts for his or her own advantage, that the only reason why people act respectfully or kindly toward each other is that courtesy and generosity, too, for one reason or another, are to their advantage"(The Big Question pg. 50). This is not to say that every person in this society is like this, but a lot of people are. In our society money talks and people will do just about anything to get it, either from prostitution, killing, steeling, lying and cheating. These are all examples of an immoral society. A moral or "good" society would have no crime and therefore no need for punishment. Most of all a good society would be composed of all moral people.

What kind of laws and justice would exist in a good society? Laws would exist to keep people safe just as they are now. The problem today is that immoral people find ways or "loop holes" in our justice system to get away with the crime they have committed. In, The Big Question, Thomas Hobbes suggests, " People are naturally selfish and, in a world with scarce resources, we would literally kill one another if there were no laws and government to force us to behave ourselves." In today's society this is probably true, but in a moral society, this statement would be false. In a good society would exist four concerns of justice that come from the book, The Big Question

1. "People should get what they want.

. People should give what they can.

. People should be allowed to keep what they have.

4. People should get what they deserve."

Then again, one would argue why would we need laws and justice if there were no crime? I believe, even in a good society where people are moral and do good by one another, there should still be laws and justice to keep people safe and also to provide a sense of order in a world full of chaos. Remember that we are only talking about one good society; there are hundreds of other societies in the world.

Equality is another important issue in a good society. Equality is important for the success of the society. Everyone must be equal to ensure a good quality of life for all. In a good society everyone would have the same opportunities and be denied nothing because of any physical, cultural, or religious differences. All people are human and deserve to be treated with respect and that is how it would be no matter what in a good society. The four kinds of Equality would be evident in a good society

1. "Every person has the same abilities, talents, and advantages.

. Every person has the same status before the law.

. Every person deserves to be given the same goods, benefits, and responsibilities in our society.

4. Every person should have the same opportunities for achievement and advancement in our society."

Liberalism would also be something that would be apart of a good society.

Liberalism views are ones that believe in natural rights as well as the benefits of a good society. Liberals do approve of a government as long as it is there to protect and only to benefit the people. A quote from, The Big Question, sums up a liberal view " For the liberal, the self is the bearer of rights to a decent life, which becomes the obligation of society."

What type of government would be instilled in a good society? Democracy would still be the best government in a good society. Since democracy means "ruled by the people" and, in a good society all people are moral, it would be the best-suited type of government. Some would argue what the need for a government is in a good society if all are moral and just? Some would say that anarchism would work in this type of society, I disagree. In a good society the government would be there to organize the society and provide social order. Even if people are moral, it does not hurt to have a sense of security and protection from other societies in the world that are immoral and unjust. The government is there to protect and serve and in a good or moral society that is exactly what it would do.

In the end a good society would be made of people who are kind, forgiving, honest, and do what is right for the good of all. Now I do not want to sound as if though I do not like this society or country that we live in today. I love this country and everything that it stands for. I believe that the world we live in today this is the best society in the world. We are the most functioning and free society in the world. However, it does have its problems. The good society I have described in this paper is an ultimate fantasy of the perfect society. A society free from crime, free from poverty, and just overall free.

Scott Anderson's Triage explores many aspects of war and the effects that it has on people. The text arguably focuses on the emotional toll that it takes on people who merely witness it and those who suffer loss because of it and, furthermore, explores the different ways people deal with it. Also, issues regarding the randomness of death in war are also dealt with by drawing parallels between characters. In the first chapter we meet Ahmet Talzani, the triage doctor whose system severely shocks Mark. His job in many ways is similar to Elena's job in New York.

Elena reunites families of refugees all around the world. although her job seems harmless and straight forward, it is not because there are countless incidents of misspelled names and misplaced records. Elena must decide how long she can spend on each case without jeopardising other cases. After looking for a record of Mahmoud Ali Rabbani three times, Elena gives up and placed it [the record] face down to the left of the computer. This essentially is the same as Talzani's work he regularly has to decide who to save because any one who is going to take up two hours of my time to save is not worth saving. Both Elena and Talzani work under time constraints with victims of war and are frustrated by the randomness of their own systems. By drawing this parallel between Elena's work and Talzani's work, Anderson explores the 'randomness' of war by comparing it with something similar in a more innocuous, 'everyday' context. Hence, the reader is shown that although these things seem vicious at war similar decisions are made all over the world and, to an extent, these decisions are necessary in many situations. A witness to Talzani's ungodly process was Mark who was, in turn, deeply affected by what he saw.

Joaquin and Mark have both witnessed and suffered loss due to war and by juxtaposing the way in which both characters are affected by this, the different ways people are affected by war is explored.

When his friend is killed in an explosion in Kurdistan and he himself is injured, Mark's psyche is irrevocably damaged by the accumulated war trauma he has witnessed. He suffers partial amnesia as the brain shuts down recollections of Colin's terrible death. As a war correspondent, he photographs the centres of modern warfare and has witnessed many horrific scenes. But Mark persists that he is completely unaffected by what he sees. His father is the first to underline the damage that can ensue this shit takes a toll because snapshots of the terror of war remain in the memory forever. Upon returning to New York, Mark realises that his life has changed forever and feels that he would be walking into a new life, that never again would he be the easy, confident man he had been. This has been caused by a traumatic combination of physical injuries, seeing Colin's life ebb away and his experience of Talzani's 'triage' process.

Likewise, Mark's new found emotional companion Joaquin has witnessed and been subjected to horrible things because of war yet he deals with it differently. Of all the characters in Triage, Joaquin has suffered and lost the most. He lost his family during the civil war and literally ran into a new life, he then lived through the death of his son and the slow death of his wife. Then his last genetic relation, Elena, abandoned him under the impression that he was a fascist. So, in short, Joaquin outlived and lost everyone he ever loved and yet he has carried it with me [him] forever and still feels that the world is a wonderful place.

Scott Anderson creates a dichotomy between Mark who suppresses his experiences, and Joaquin who has accepted what has happened to him and persists with life remembering those he has lost. This is seen clearly when Elena observes the pictures of people who have been in Joaquin's life all round his study. This dichotomy or contrast if you will is used to explore the different effects war and horrifying experiences can have on a person if you suppress the experience opposed to embracing and dealing with what has happened. It is arguably concluded that suppressing experience and emotion can accumulate and in the long term can be far more detrimental to a person.

Triage deals with, in far more abundance, the emotional effects of war that outlive the physical effects. In all the characters, even in the stories Mark tells, there is more focus on the effect war has had on peoples' emotions.

Mark returns from Kurdistan with considerably severe injuries ranging from mere bruises to shrapnel lodged in his skull. These injuries, however, occupy only a small portion of the text relative to the emotional toll war has on Mark. The theme of Mark counting the amount of steps it takes him to cross his living room is only present for a part of the text, however, the plot revolves around the theme of Mark's emotional journey to accepting what he has gone through. Furthermore, the wider emotional affect war has on people is also explored through Diane dealing with Colin's death and Elena's accepting of the lack of information Mark gives her on what happens at the war zones he visits. War is explored in Triage as something that inflicts emotional damages that out way the physical damages.

Triage conducts a thorough exploration of the emotional toll war can take on people and the different way of dealing with such issues. In regard to dealing with emotional damage, it is concluded that embracing, understanding and remembering what one has gone through assists in the healing process. It is also concluded that suppressing issues merely accumulates emotions and is far more damaging in the long run. The randomness of war is also dealt with by drawing a parallel between Talzani who directly deals with victims of war and Elena who indirectly helps victims of war find their loved ones.

Crips

The origin of the word Crip has not been identified yet. Gang specialist do believe that the "Crips" were looking for the hardest and toughest thing imaginable and they came up with Superman. The only thing that could hurt Superman was Kryptonite. They shortened it up and got Crip. Another theory is that it is simply an acronym and stands for Community Revolution in Progress. And along with this second theory, there is a second meaning on why this gang was developed. It is also said that Crips were created to protect the neighborhood against other criminal street gangs.

The Crips originated in southern Los Angeles, California, around 16. The gang was predominately black and Hispanic members that formed to take control of the drug trade that was happening in this community. The Crips chose blue to be the color of display for their gang. This color is usually shown on accessories such as hats, handkerchiefs, shoelaces, and belts. In select areas black, brown, and purple are also accepted as Crip colors.

Around 180 this gang started to spread rapidly throughout the United States trying to become nationwide. This gang wanted to focus on drug control and to be the strongest, toughest gang out there. The Crips would do virtually anything to make this happen. As the expansion of this gang occurred, they formed different "sets." For example there is now the LA crips, San Diego crips, Compton crips, East Coast crips, and etc… There are currently over 00 different crip sets in the United States. They spread from the West coast to the East coast, from Texas to Minnesota. Each set is one gang in its own. They all are an alliance of one big gang that is called the Crips. These gangs usually settled in the larger cities. Within these gangs there are usually anywhere from 0 to 5 people involved in a set. There is known to be as many as 0 sets in large cities such as Los Angeles. The gang members usually range between the ages of 15 to 5, however there are younger and older gang members. It is said to be that the most violent gang members are 15 to 18 years of age and this age group makes up the majority of the gang population.

To become a member of this gang you have to prove your loyalty or show that you are willing to give your life for and to the gang. This is accomplished by the leaders of the gang ordering the new prospects to commit crimes, physically assault the prospect, making them play Russian roulette, or in some other way risk their life for the gang. One of the most common initiation rituals is what they call walking the line. This is where the prospect stands between two sides of current gang members and has to walk a certain distance while being beaten on and his/her knees cannot touch the ground before the get to the predetermined distance. The prospect's hands are tied behind their back so they cannot fight back. If his/her knees do touch the ground then they either start over or beat the prospect worse.

The Crips are an extremely powerful and violent gang. The Crips spread as deep as inside prisons. The Crips don't just deal with drug control now. They deal with stolen merchandise, they steal merchandise, they heist cars, they beat people down for money, and they steal and sell guns. The Crips will try to destroy anything or anyone who stands in their way of doing whatever activities they want to do.

Members of this gang are loyal to each other. They cover each other's backs. If a Crip from New York goes to Los Angeles and gets into some kind of trouble the Crips from Los Angeles will help out the Crip from New York. The gang has graffiti, hand signs, specific tattoos, and specific words that are used nationwide to show their affiliation with Crip brotherhood. Crips usually refer to each other as "cuzz" and give each other nicknames or street names such as T-loc or C-bone. The Crip's big rival gang is the Bloods. You'll see a lot of Crips use the initial BK in graffiti or tattooed on their bodies standing for Blood Killer. Graffiti usually consists of future or past gang activity but never current. Hardcore Crips will never use the letter "b" in any of their words probably due to the fact that their rival gang's name starts with a "b."

Overall Crip gang activity has been on a rise for the past few years but has leveled off as of recently. As the police agencies become more effective in their means of taking gang members off the streets, the prisons become their new "stomping grounds" giving the prison employees a handful. As laws stiffen on gang activity, the sneakier gang members become. Today's society is not immune to gang activity. Gang members are in high schools and in colleges. They live in just about every neighborhood and interact with everyday society. The law enforcement community has to work harder and harder to keep up with the gang activity. I believe that gang activity will always be a part of our everyday lives.

During the 180s, several Crip gangs (and Bloods) developed in a Central American Country known as Belize (formerly British Honduras). These gangsters migrated heavily to the United States during the late 180s, especially throughout the West Coast and East Coast States like New York, New Jersey, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. In 18, several large Belizean families arrived in New York in the neighborhood of Harlem. The youth from these families, and some adults, were members of the Crips Gang in Belize. They created the Harlem Mafia Crips in New York City and helped establish several other Crip gangs such as the Rolling 0s Crips, Hoover Crips and Rolling 60s Crips by 15. During the late 10s, Crip gangs were well established in New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Georgia, Connecticut, Florida, Pennsylvania and other East Coast regions.

The main enemy of the Crip gang is another gang called the Bloods. They are an equally vicious gang. They have similar philosophies as the crips and many of the customs of the gangs are the same too. However, they cannot stand each other and many times there are gang fights between these two gangs resulting in a lot of violence and death.

The police of most states are tired of all this fighting. They want to get rid of these gangs but find it tough to do so. They are getting more and more strict, passing different laws and even going under cover in order to control this problem.
