Database Management Systems has quickly become one of the leading texts for database courses, known for its practical emphasis and comprehensive coverage. The third edition features new material on database application development, with a focus on Internet applications. The hands-on approach introduces students to current standards, including JDBC, XML, and -tier application architectures. A new, flexible organization allows instructors to teach either an applications-oriented course or an introductory systems-oriented course. The revised "part" organization with (new) Overview chapters makes it easy to select the chapters you need; in-depth chapters within each part can be optional.

This very current new edition also features pedagogical improvements (e.g., chapter objectives, review questions), and updated and extended discussions of data mining, database tuning wizards, decision support, information retrieval, Internet security, object-oriented databases, transaction processing, and XML data management. Throughout, the coverage has been revised and expanded to reflect the new SQL1 standard, including extensions that support multimedia data, object-relational databases, OLAP, recursive queries, spatial data, and SQL-J. The flexible organization and up-to-date discussion of advanced topics also makes the book ideal for use in a two-course sequence.

When I was fifteen, I bagged groceries at the grocery store. For my hard work, I averaged about fifteen dollars a day in tips. Working at the store was a privilegethere was a waiting list. Work was biweekly if I was lucky. Babysitting was my 'cash cow.' Four hours of playing with two adorable children paid a minimum of fifty-dollars a weekendtip not included. Neither of the jobs were steady work; I was an active teenager with a full social calendar. Bagging was available only if someone called in sick and I babysat only on military paydays-two weekends per month.

Bagging groceries required speed and precision. Cashiers seemed to furiously throw the groceries at me. Double bagging fiascos still haunt me to this day. Customers worked against me. Placing their groceries on the belt in random order, I never seemed to be able to put more than one frozen pizza in a bag before a soft, squishy, loaf of bread came tumbling down the belt, and I had to start a new bag. Twenty minutes later, my customer waiting impatiently, I would be ready to wheel the bags out to their waiting car.

Rain or shine, I would load the groceries and pray for a decent tip. Young, single military men usually tipped nothing. Single women tipped a minimum of three dollars. Military paydays would land me a whopping five-dollar tip from my parents' friends.

Babysitting jobs usually landed in my lap twice a month. No friends were allowed, but I could eat all the junk food that I wanted. Usually the folks I babysat for had two children, or they would combine kids for a sleepover. I charged three dollars per child. My night began at 7 o'clock and usually ended around 11 or 1 o'clock. I would play or read with the children until o'clock and then it was "lights out!" Sometimes, they would wake and wonder where mommy was, or if they could have a glass of water, but I would take their hand and lead them back to bed.

Write my Essay on Leaving the Service for me

There were no television shows in Bermuda that late at night, and most people did not have a VCR, so I would read a magazine or a book. When the parents came home, they were usually tipsy or drunk, so that fact usually increased my tip. I would then happily walk home, counting my extra movie money the whole way.

As a fifteen year old with no major responsibilities, bagging was a very stressful job. After three weeks on that job, I told my boss that it interfered with my extracurricular activities, when in fact, I simply added to them to get out of that dreadful job! Babysitting on the other hand was quite relaxing; the children were already in their bedclothes, and all I had to do was read them a story. To this day I baby-sit for other peoples' children, but now they are family, so I have to do it for free.

Both Marvell and Auden present different attitudes towards life in the poems 'A dialogue Between the Soul and Body' and 'Miss Gee'. These attitudes assert that the soul must resist temptation in the courtesy of the body. In doing this sacrifice Soul has achieved harmoniousness in the balance between Body and Soul. Also as in the case of Miss Gee these attitudes relay that no matter what the human mind may desire it will exist in this globe of time as it wishes.

The two authors explore these attitudes and ideas through the use of imagery including language, metaphor, simile etc. Different attitudes to life also contribute to the poems through the use of tone and rhyme.

Marvell uses a mixed dialogue of language and techniques. He uses these to express in 'A Dialogue between the Soul and Body' how Soul and Body were not meant for each other. Marvell explains how a Soul and Body don't fit, "So architects do square and hew", he also explains the feelings of each. Soul feels that living in a body is a trap, a dungeon and wishes to be released to the heavens, "Oh, who shall from this dungeon raise a soul enslaved so many ways". Body does not want to feel anything it just wants to be a body, "And warms and moves this needless frame, A fever could but do the same"

In 'A Dialogue between Soul and Body' Marvell has the use of rhetorical questions "Who shall me deliver whole, From bounds of this tyrannci soul".

Auden uses language and techniques a lot in his poem Miss Gee. He uses these to show his different attitudes toward life. Miss Gee is about an old lonely lady who is self-conscious about her body though in fact it becomes ironic, Miss Gee ending up dead on a table being dissected naked.

Auden has used persona in the opening paragraph "Let me tell you a little story". Auden also uses imagery and rhyme in the first paragraph to describe Miss Gee as no longer attractive, "Her lips were thin and small, She had narrow sloping shoulders and she had no bust at all".

Auden also gives the reader the impression of Miss Gee being eccentric, "She'd a purple mac for wet days, A green umbrella too to take".

During the whole poem Auden enforces Miss Gee's loneliness (she is very aware she is alone, "And said Does anyone care that I live in Clevedon Terrace on one hundred pounds a year".

Both the poems express different attitudes towards life. These attitudes are enforced in the poem 'A Dialogue between Soul and Body', means that not all things in life are made to fit and that to ensure our survival we must comprise and seize opportunities.

Auden expresses in his poem 'Miss Gee' how life can also be a waste and not to dwell on things that may not come. He shows this through the life of Miss Gee an Old lonely self-conscious lady who is isolated from the rest of the world. Miss Gee does not wish to reveal herself "With her clothes buttoned up to her neck", even on her death bed in a women's ward she is reluctant to reveal any skin, "Lay in the ward for women with the bedclothes right up to her neck".

Both authors express different perspectives on life in their poems.

Barium

Barium is the 56th element in the modern periodic table. . Its symbol is Ba and it

is located in group in the periodic table. Barium is one of the alkaline earth metals. Its

name comes from the Greek word barys witch means heavy or dense. Barium is a silver-

white, highly reactive, metallic element. It has an atomic mass of 17. amu. The

element's melting point is 850 ºC and the boiling point is 157 ºC. It has a specific

gravity of .5 at 0ºC . Barium has a density of .51 g/cm³. The element's hardness is

comparable to that of the lead. It is the only alkaline earth metal that has a body-centered

cubic crystal structure. It has a valence + and has 6 energy levels. Barium is the 14th

most common element and makes up 1/000th of the crust of Earth. Barium was

discovered in 1808 in England by Sir Humphrey Davy.

Barium is never found in nature in an element form. It reacts with almost all the

nonmetals. It is mostly found in the minerals witherite, a barium carbonate( BaCO1) and

barite, a barium sulfate (BaSO4). It is also found in most soils at a low level. Barium

burns easily in the air and reacts with water to produce hydrogen. Barium reduces water

and dilutes acids to hydrogen. When it burns in the air, it produces peroxide, which

produce hydrogen peroxide when treated with water. At room temperature, Barium forms

oxides. All of the water-soluble and acid-soluble barium compounds are poisonous. The

element may spontaneously ignite in moist air. Because it's extremely reactive, Barium is

never found in pure form and must be stored under kerosene to remain pure.

Barium has uses mostly in medical and industrial applications. In the medical

application, Barium enema is used to detect colon cancer. Radiologists use barium sulfate

to examine a patient's intestines with a X-rays. When a patient drinks a suspension of

barium sulfate in water or barium enema, the barium sulfate particles temporarily fill the

digestive track. When the X-ray is taken, the intestines and other organs appear white.

The X-ray picture shows clearly the shape of the intestines and other organs outlined against a black background.

In the industrial applications, Barium is used mostly for glass and rubber making.

The Barium Carbonate( BaCO) is used to make glass stronger and as a rat poison.

Chrome yellow ( barium chromate) is used as paint pigment in safety matches. Barium

sulfate's perfect white color is used as a whitener in photographic papers and as filler in

writing paper, plastic, and artificial fibers. The mixture of barium sulfate and zinc is used

as a bright- white paint pigment called lithopone. Barite is also used as a weighting agent

in oil well drilling fluids. The metal barium is used in a TV picture tubes or is added to

lead alloys for hardening. The addition of barium oxide in glaesern and optical

instruments ( "barite" glasses") changes the Brechkraft and the dispersion ability. A

nickel barium alloy is used in sparkplug wire and electron tube components. The barium

nitrate (Ba(NO)) is used to give green color to fireworks because barium salts give a

characteristic green color in the flame test. In its element form, Barium is used as a

"scavenger" for oxygen in vacuum tubes. Barium has very important applications in the

medical and industrial fields that make our lives in some way easier.

11 pages in length. Staffing a company with competent, thorough and self-motivating people is a constant struggle for contemporary Human Resources departments; finding qualified employees who are not only knowledgeable but also personable and of the teamwork mindset is almost as difficult as finding that proverbial needle in a haystack. Todays work ethic is severely compromised compared with fifty years ago when doing a good job was as much of a satisfaction as earning a weeks pay. People actually took pride in their work and would not consider giving less than one hundred percent effort. The contemporary workforce, however, is filled with self-absorbed individuals who approach a job with the attitude of Whats in it for me?, leaving HR departments frustrated with the lack of fortitude in todays workforce. However, there are ways to address a situation where perhaps the most perfect candidate has not filled the position, enabling HR managers to mold and guide their staff with communication, solid leadership and an interactive environment to the point where a cohesive alliance is developed. I think that the few Acts that I read from ?Macbeth? are very sad and have a lot of suspense and conflict. That is why my ten songs highlight the already mentioned characteristics of the story.

Act I demonstrates the concepts of appearances versus reality it also has a lot of conflict, suspense, and mystery. In this Act Macbeth discovers his dark side, because he and Lady Macbeth are planning to kill the king so Macbeth can take his place. I think that Act I is the one that has more suspense because no body really knows if Macbeth is going to commit the crime. ?Alone, Macbeth begins to have second thoughts about his murderous plan.? This quote makes it even more mysterious for the reader, which is why I think that this Act has a lot of suspense. In my CD, I selected these two songs ?Suicide? and ?I do it for you.? to highlight the concept of evil.

Act II is a little sadder that Act I because Macbeth had the chance of not committing the murder but he did, he committed the murder, ?Suddenly a dazed and terrified Macbeth enters, carrying the bloody daggers that he used to murder Duncan.? and now he is feeling guiltiness. ?He imagines a voice that warns Macbeth shall sleep no more and is too afraid to return to the scene of the crime.? For these reasons, I selected these two songs. ?You got it bad? and ?I am walking away.?

Cheap Custom Essays on Analyzing Macbeth's Play

Act III has a lot of mystery and confusedness since the witches told Macbeth that Banquo?s sons would be kings. Macbeth persuades two murderers to kill Banquo and his son. Therefore, that shows that Macbeth is really an evil person. Because of that, I chose these two songs; ?I?ll go with you? and ?Addictive,? which reveal the evilness and the mysteries of this Act.

Act IV is one of the most interesting Acts because Macbeth meets with the three witches demanding them to tell him his future, the witches raise three apparitions. The first , an armed head, next a bloody child ,the third apparition tells him that he will never be defeated until the trees of Birnam Wood move toward his castle. After all this, Macbeth now feels confident, but at the end, everything will go bad. For this Act, I selected the following songs ?All my life? and ?Nothing,? which reveal all the mystery and anger of Macbeth.

Act V is one of the saddest Acts because all of the things that Macbeth and Lady Macbeth did to gain power are now all gone; now they are both dead. Lady Macbeth is starting to hallucinate ?Lady Macbeth appears to be washing imagined blood from her hands.? Macbeth is going crazy his soul has been stolen, he is killed internally.? While Macbeth prepares for battle, the doctor reports that he cannot cure Lady Macbeth, whose illness is mental, not physical.? his wife, Lady Macbeth, is now dead and he is all alone, then he discovers that Birnam Wood seems to be moving toward the castle, Macbeth is now fearing that the prophecies have deceived him. ?He decides to leave the castle to fight and die on the battlefield.? In my CD I chose there two songs to highlight the sadness of this Act ?I will always love you? and ?unbreak my heart.?
